Moving on to Monteverde
Maggie has asked me every day since we got here, “When is Aunt Anna and Alice coming?” I could finally say today is the day you have been waiting for. We took a three hour private car to Monteverde which is considered a cloud forrest. The difference between the cloud forrest and a rain forrest is the elevation. The cloud forrest has 200 more species of birds and some rare animals that you can only see at that elevation and climate. We stayed in a cute three bedroom, three bath cabana on a preserve. We heard the most beautiful bird calls and saw new animals such as the aguti (large rodent) and the coati (Costa Rican raccoon that is not nocturnal, see tomorrow’s blog). We walked down to Santa Elena for dinner before relaxing at the cabana to go to bed.
