Song of Wyoming

After three amazing days in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, today was a travel day to get us all the way across Wyoming and down into Colorado.

Of course, we had to make a stop in Cheyenne to see the State Capitol and tour the cute little downtown area. With a population of about 60,000 (about the equivalent of Harrisonburg), Cheyenne is the largest city in Wyoming.

Along the way we saw the National Museum of Military Vehicles - who knew there was such a thing, especially in the middle-of-nowhere Wyoming - and a random very large statue of Abraham Lincoln towering over Interstate 80.

One interesting note - while we have seen several areas of large wind turbines in Texas and Utah, the most wind turbines we have ever seen across the skyline in one place is actually in Wyoming. Renewable energy is alive and growing in some red states!

Also, Wyoming has over 400 miles of snow fence near the highways to reduce drifts during blizzards.

We ended the day in Fort Collins, Colorado and will head south tomorrow for a couple days around Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak.
